Legislative Reforms
Kilpatrick Stockton attorneys were lead counsel with a coalition of private lawyers and organizations challenging the constitutionality of a Georgia statute which requires state-issued photo identification to vote, thus limiting access by minorities to the polls.
Research Projects
At the request of various nonprofits, Kilpatrick Stockton attorneys have performed extensive research and prepared reports addressing the rights to bail and prejudication detention of juveniles, residential landlord and tenant law in fifty states, selection of state court judges, voting rights cases and statistics, residential segregation and poverty and racism.
Immigrants
Attorneys are working with a local nonprofit group on a collaborative project designed to provide low income Hispanic immigrants in Georgia access to the banking community.
Nonprofits
An ideal way for business lawyers to participate in pro bono work within their community while building skills is to serve as General Counsel to a nonprofit organization and to leverage the vast legal resources of the firm to benefit the client. The opportunities to make a difference to these organizations are varied and plentiful. Kilpatrick Stockton lawyers serve as General Counsel or otherwise provide pro bono representation to over 250 nonprofit organizations.
