Richard Haygood is a partner practicing in the Labor and Employment Practice Group. Mr. Haygood focuses his practice on defending employment discrimination lawsuits, advising employers on complex employment issues and representing management in labor relations matters.

Selected Experience

  • Successfully litigated cases in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies involving alleged discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful discharge.
  • Represented companies in all facets of labor relations, including organizing campaigns, strike preparation, unfair labor practice proceedings, discharge arbitrations and contract negotiations.
  • Counseled clients regarding a wide variety of employment matters, including issues arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
  • Prepared non-compete, confidentiality, independent contractor and employment agreements for high-tech, computer software, and other clients in the Research Triangle Park and across North Carolina.
  • Assisted clients in conducting effective workplace investigations regarding employee misconduct and inappropriate behavior.
